Luis Manuel Otero Alc.”ara was greeted like a hero upon his arrival in Miami after being released from prison in Cuba.
After receiving humanitarian parole from the US, the dissident artist agreed to go into exile. The San Isidro Movement, a group of singers, authors, and artists in Havana who demonstrate against the Cuban government, was co-founded by Otero Alcúnara.
After being detained in Havana during anti-government protests in 2021, he was found guilty of public disorder, contempt, and disrespect for national symbols and given a five-year prison sentence.
